Weymouth

Weymouth, << WAY muhth, >> Massachusetts (pop. 57,437), is on an inlet of Massachusetts Bay, about 12 miles (19 kilometers) southeast of Boston. Industries in Weymouth produce electronic equipment, resins (materials used especially in making plastics), and sheet metal. The Abigail Adams House, birthplace of the wife of President John Adams, is in Weymouth. The town is the second oldest settlement in Massachusetts. Only Plymouth is older.

Weymouth was founded in 1622 and incorporated in 1635. Weymouth claims it originated the New England town meeting form of government (see Town meeting ).
