Wilberforce University is a private coeducational liberal arts university in Wilberforce, Ohio. It is affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church. All Wilberforce students alternate periods of study on the campus with periods of work at approved off-campus jobs. Wilberforce University was founded in 1856 and is the oldest predominantly Black private university in the United States. It was named after abolitionist William Wilberforce.
