Yorktown, Virginia, is a historic village on the York River. In 1781, Lord Cornwallis surrendered to General George Washington at Yorktown. The Siege of Yorktown was the last major battle of the American Revolution (1775-1783). During the 1700’s, Yorktown served as a major tobacco port. Today, several historic homes in Yorktown are part of Colonial National Historical Park. This park includes the Yorktown Battlefield and much of Jamestown Island.
