Black haw, also called sheepberry, nannyberry, or stagbush, is a shrub or small tree that grows in the Eastern and Southern United States. It may grow 15 feet (4.6 meters) high, and has stout, spreading branches. White flowers bloom in spring. The bluish-black berries of the black haw hang in bunches and are edible. Winter buds are reddish and down-covered. See also Honeysuckle.
