Princeton, New Jersey (pop. 30,681), is the home of Princeton University, and Princeton Theological Seminary. It lies in central New Jersey. During the Revolutionary War in America (1775-1783), George Washington defeated British forces in a battle at Princeton. During the battle, British troops occupied Nassau Hall at what is now Princeton University. The Congress of the Confederation met in Princeton in 1783 and received the Treaty of Peace ending the Revolutionary War. Princeton has a mayor-council government.
