Cortot, Alfred

Cortot << kawr TOH >>, Alfred (1877-1962), a French pianist, writer, and teacher, played many concerts in Europe and America. In 1919 he helped found the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. Among his books are French Piano Music (1930-1932) and Alfred Cortot’s Studies in Musical Appreciation (1937). Cortot was born at Nyon, Switzerland.
