Heinz, Henry John, II (1908-1987), a grandson of the founder of the H. J. Heinz Company, served as president of the company from 1941 to 1959 and as chairman of the board from 1959 until his death. He expanded his company’s operations in international markets. Heinz used citizens of the countries in which his firm operate to manage the plants. Heinz also worked actively in public affairs.
Heinz was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Yale University in 1931. From 1932 to 1937, he worked in the Heinz sales department in England and the United States. He was assistant to the president of the firm from 1937 to 1941.
