Seven Wise Men of Greece is the name scholars give to various sages who lived in Greece and Asia Minor (now part of Turkey) about 600 B.C. Plato and other Greek philosophers listed the names of the wise men, but not all accounts agree. The usual list of sages is Bias of Priene, Chilon, Cleobulus, Periander, Pittacus, Solon, and Thales. The wise men were active in science and politics.
