Rosenthal, Moriz

Rosenthal, Moriz (1862-1946), a Polish pianist, became noted for the great technical skill, full tone, and brilliance of his playing. At the age of 10, he began to study with Rafael Joseffy in Vienna, Austria. Five years later, he studied with the composer Franz Liszt in Weimar.

Rosenthal made his American debut in 1888. Later, he lived in Vienna, where he was court pianist. After 1933, he lived in New York City. He was the coauthor of School of Advanced Piano Playing (1892). He was born on Dec. 18, 1862, in Lemberg, Poland, and died on Sept. 3, 1946.
