Churchill, Winston

Churchill, Winston (1871-1947), an American author, wrote historical novels and novels about political and economic issues of his time. In Richard Carvel (1899) and The Crossing (1904), he treats the Revolutionary War in America (1775-1783). The Crisis (1901) is set during the American Civil War (1861-1865). Coniston (1906) deals with political issues of that time in New Hampshire. Mr. Crewe’s Career (1908) deals with railroad monopoly, A Modern Chronicle (1910) deals with divorce, and The Inside of the Cup (1913) deals with the churches’ need to modernize their teachings.

Churchill was born on Nov. 10, 1871, in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, at Annapolis, in 1894. Churchill died on March 12, 1947. He was no relation to the famous British statesman.
