Galatea

Galatea, << `gal` uh TEE uh, >> was a beautiful sea nymph in Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Nereus and Doris, and was often called “the queen of the sea.” The ugly one-eyed Polyphemus loved her. But Galatea gave herself to a Sicilian shepherd named Acis. The monster Polyphemus found them together one day and crushed Acis with a rock. The blood of Acis was changed into a stream which flowed out to the sea.
