Hampden, Walter

Hampden, Walter (1879-1955), was an American actor. He won fame for his portrayal of the swaggering hero of Edmond Rostand’s play, Cyrano de Bergerac, and for his Shakespearean roles.

Hampden also won recognition as a motion-picture, radio, and television performer. Hampden was born in Brooklyn, New York (now part of New York City).
