Noel-Baker, Philip John (1889-1982), British statesman and author, won the 1959 Nobel Peace Prize for his work in promoting international disarmament. He served at the Paris peace conference in 1919 and the Geneva disarmament conference in 1932. He also helped draft the United Nations Charter in 1945. Noel-Baker was born Philip John Baker in London. He studied at Haverford College in Pennsylvania, and at Cambridge University in England.
