Wilson, William Bauchop (1862-1934), was the first secretary of labor of the United States. He was appointed by President Woodrow Wilson in 1913, and served as secretary until 1921. During World War I (1914-1918), he was a member of the Council of National Defense. He served in Congress as a Democratic representative from Pennsylvania for six years. He was born in Blantyre, Scotland, and came to the United States in 1870.
