Francescatti << frahn chehs KAHT tih >>, Zino (1902-1991), a French musician, was one of the great violin virtuosos of the 1900’s. Francescatti gained fame for his performances of the major concertos in the violin repertoire. He won acclaim for his full rich tone.
René-Charles Francescatti was born on Aug. 9, 1902, in Marseilles, France. Both his parents were professional musicians. Francescatti began studying the violin at the age of 3 and made his professional debut at the age of 10. He died on Sept. 17, 1991.
