Ganz << gahnts >>, Rudolph (1877-1972), was a Swiss-American pianist, composer, and conductor. For several years he toured Europe and the United States as a pianist, helping to popularize the works of many composers. As conductor of the St. Louis Symphony from 1921 to 1927, he introduced children’s concerts. Ganz was born in Zurich, Switzerland. At 22, he made his debut as pianist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1933 to 1954, Ganz served as president of the Chicago Musical College. The college is now part of Roosevelt University.
