Neville, Emily Cheney, << NEHV uhl, EHM uh lee CHEE nee >> (1919-1997), was an American author. She won the 1964 Newbery medal for her first book, It’s Like This, Cat (1963), a story about a boy and a cat in New York City. Emily Cheney was born in Manchester, Connecticut, on Dec. 28, 1919. She married Glenn Neville, a journalist, in 1948. Emily Cheney Neville died on Dec. 14, 1997.
