Page, William Tyler (1868-1942), wrote The American’s Creed, a statement of political faith that the United States House of Representatives adopted in 1918. In 1881, he became a page (messenger) in the House, and then made a career of rising through the ranks of House employees. He held the honored position of clerk of the House from 1919 to 1931. Page was born in Frederick, Maryland, in 1868. Page died on Oct. 19, 1942.
