Semenov, Nikolai, << suh MYAW nof, nee ko LY, >> N. (1896-1986), was a Soviet scientist who shared the 1956 Nobel Prize in chemistry with Sir Cyril Hinshelwood. Semenov wrote many publications based on his research work in chemical kinetics and chemical reactions that release large amounts of energy. He proposed theories to account for the mechanism of many complex chain reactions. Semenov was born in Saratov, Russia.
