Fels, Samuel Simeon (1860-1950), was an American civic leader, industrialist, and philanthropist. He helped establish such Philadelphia civic agencies as the Philadelphia Bureau of Municipal Research and the Crime Prevention Association of Philadelphia. He also established the Samuel S. Fels Fund. With his father and brother, Fels founded Fels and Company, the maker of Fels-Naphtha soaps, in 1881. In 1933, Fels published This Changing World. He was born in Yanceyville, North Carolina.
