McDonald, David John (1902-1979), was president of the United Steelworkers of America from 1952 to 1965. He played a leading part in the merger of the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) in 1955. He became a vice-president of the AFL-CIO. McDonald was born in Pittsburgh.
