Mordvinoff << MAWRD vihn awv >>, Nicolas (1911-1973), an author, illustrator, and painter, won the Caldecott Medal in 1952 for his illustrations in Finders Keepers, a children’s book by William Lipkind. Mordvinoff was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Sept. 27, 1911. He became a United States citizen in 1951. He died on May 5, 1973.
