Morley, Christopher (1890-1957), was a popular American literary journalist. His greatest success was as an essayist in such collections as Shandygaff (1918) and Tales from a Rolltop Desk (1921). Morley’s novels include Parnassus on Wheels (1917), Where the Blue Begins (1922), Thunder on the Left (1925), and Kitty Foyle (1939). He also wrote light verse, such as Mandarin in Manhattan (1933). In addition, Morley wrote one of the best literary columns of his generation. He wrote it first for the New York Evening Post and later for the Saturday Review. Morley was born in Haverford, Pennsylvania.
