Pierrot

Pierrot, << `pyeh` ROH, >> a character in French pantomime, was descended from the Italian character Pedrolino. Costumed in a white blouse and pantaloons, and with a white face, Pierrot usually appeared as an honest and outspoken servant. In English pantomime, Pierrot is more of a clown. Some ballets represent him as a poet in love with Columbine.
