Statler, Ellsworth Milton

Statler, Ellsworth Milton (1863-1928), was an American hotel owner and operator. He built a hotel for the Buffalo Exposition in 1901, and operated one at the St. Louis Exposition in 1904. He opened a permanent hotel in Buffalo in 1908, advertising it as the first in the country to have a bath with every room. He later owned hotels in Cleveland, Detroit, and St. Louis, and operated the Pennsylvania in New York City. He was born on Oct. 26, 1863, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
