Therese of Lisieux, Saint

Therese of Lisieux, Saint (1873-1897), also called Little Flower of Jesus, became a saint of the Roman Catholic Church in 1925. She was born in Alencon, France. Her original name was Francoise Therese Martin. In 1888, she entered the convent of the Carmelite order at Lisieux, where she became known for her piety, simplicity, and patience in suffering from tuberculosis. She is credited with many miracles. Her feast day is celebrated on October 1.
