Wilson, Charles Thomson Rees

Wilson, Charles Thomson Rees (1869-1959), a British physicist, invented the cloud chamber in 1912. This device made the tracks of atomic particles visible by means of water droplets condensed on the ions produced along their paths. Wilson shared the 1927 Nobel Prize in physics for his invention. Throughout his life, he carried out research on atmospheric and meteorological events. He was born near Glencorse, Scotland.
