Pitt, Brad (1963-…), is an American motion-picture actor. He became known for playing romantic roles, as well as for portraying more offbeat characters. Pitt won an Academy Award for best supporting actor for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).
William Bradley Pitt was born on Dec. 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma , and raised in Springfield, Missouri. He studied journalism at the University of Missouri before moving to Los Angeles to study art. Instead, he took up acting and appeared in a number of television shows in California during the late 1980’s. Pitt made his motion-picture debut in The Dark Side of the Sun (1988).
Pitt first gained attention as a drifter in the film Thelma and Louise (1991). By the mid-1990’s, he had become one of Hollywood’s top stars. His later films include The Tree of Life and Moneyball (both 2011); Killing Them Softly (2012); 12 Years a Slave, The Counselor, and World War Z (all 2013); Fury (2014); The Big Short and By the Sea (both 2015); and Allied (2016). He also provided the voice for the superhero Metro Man in the animated feature Megamind (2010).
Pitt was married to the American actress Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005, and to the American actress Angelina Jolie from 2014 to 2019.
