Reiner, Rob (1945-…), is a successful American actor, motion-picture director, and writer. Reiner gained his first fame as Michael Stivic in the popular television comedy series “All in the Family” (1971-1979). He performed on the show until 1978. He made his debut as a film director with This Is Spinal Tap (1984), a satire on documentaries about rock music that became a cult favorite.
Reiner went on to direct a number of other movies, including Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally (1989), Misery (1990), A Few Good Men (1992), The American President (1995), Ghosts of Mississippi (1996), Rumor Has It… (2005), The Bucket List (2007), Flipped (2010), The Magic of Belle Isle (2012), And So It Goes (2014), and Being Charlie (2015). As an actor, he appeared in such movies as Where’s Poppa? (1970), Throw Momma from the Train (1987), Postcards from the Edge (1990), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and Bullets over Broadway (1994). He acted in, directed, and produced The Story of Us (1999) and Alex and Emma (2003).
Robert Reiner was born on March 6, 1947, in New York City. His father is the actor, writer, producer, and director Carl Reiner. After attending the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), Rob Reiner became an actor. He made his movie acting debut in the comedy Enter Laughing (1967), directed by his father. Reiner also wrote for several television shows early in his career. He was married to actress and director Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981.
