Barramundi

Barramundi is the name of two unrelated species of fish. The giant perch is a large, valuable food fish which lives in the Indian Ocean, and in the waters around northern Australia, China, and the Philippines. It spawns in freshwater rivers. It is a moderately slender-bodied fish with a large mouth and brilliant red eyes. Adults are greenish-gray above with silvery sides. The average weight is from about 3 to 30 pounds (1.5 to 14 kilograms).

The barramundi rock cod lives in coral and rocky reefs. It was once common in the Indo-Pacific area from India to northern Australia and Japan. But extensive fishing has made it increasingly rare. It grows to an average length of about 25 inches (66 centimeters).
