Cambria is an old name for Wales. It comes from the Welsh word Cymru. Cambria was settled in the 600’s after the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain. During the 800’s and 900’s, much of Cambria was temporarily united under two kings, Rhodri the Great and his grandson, Hywel the Good. It was split again into smaller principalities at the time of the Norman invasion of Wales, in the late 1000’s.
