Christmas bush is a name given to several kinds of Australian plants. The New South Wales Christmas bush is the best-known kind. It is a small tree or tall shrub that grows in coastal gullies and open forests. Its shiny leaves have three toothed leaflets. Its inconspicuous white flowers fall soon after blossoming. Early in December, the plant’s sepals enlarge and turn red.
