Churchill, Lord Randolph

Churchill, Lord Randolph (1849-1895), was a British Conservative politician and father of Sir Winston Churchill, prime minister of Britain during World War II (1939-1945). Randolph Henry Spencer Churchill was born in Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England. He was the third son of the seventh Duke of Marlborough. In 1874, he was elected to Parliament. He then formed a group that favored social and political reform. In 1885, he became secretary for India and in 1886 leader of the House of Commons and chancellor of the exchequer. He resigned less than a year later after disagreeing with colleagues.
