Esdraelon, Plain of, is a large fertile plain in northern Israel. The name Esdraelon is another form of the Hebrew Jezreel, which means God has sown. In Biblical times, many caravan routes crossed Esdraelon. The cities of Megiddo, Taanach, and Bethshan stood along its edges. Esdraelon was often a battleground.
