Hedge sparrow is a bird that lives in Asia and Europe. It is also called hedge accentor or dunnock. It is a plumpish little bird with a slender bill; brown plumage with black streaks; and a gray breast, throat, and head. It has a low warbling song and a shrill call. It usually nests in hedges or shrubbery. It builds a cup-shaped nest of twigs, moss, and dead leaves, and lines the nest with moss and hair or wool. Its eggs are a bright turquoise blue. It feeds mainly on seeds in winter but eats many insects in summer.
