Honey-buzzard

Honey-buzzard is a European bird of prey. It is more slender than other buzzards of the region, but similar in length—from 20 to 23 inches (50 to 58 centimeters)—and with longer, narrower wings. The head is smaller and more pigeonlike. The plumage is mainly dark gray or brown, with lighter undersides. The honey-buzzard spends more time on the ground than other buzzards. It walks easily, and runs with its head extended and its body horizontal. It has the habit of raiding wasp and bumble bee nests to feed on the grubs and adult wasps and bees. The honey-buzzard winters in North Africa and the Near East.
