Jarrow is an industrial town on the south bank of the River Tyne, in northeastern England. In 1936, 200 unemployed people walked from Jarrow to London to protest their lack of work. This demonstration became famous as the Jarrow March. Jarrow is the site of the monastery, now ruined, where the medieval historian Bede lived and died.
