Mosley, Sir Oswald (1896-1980), formed the British Union of Fascists in the 1930’s. He and his black-shirted followers were involved in riots, especially in London’s East End. In World War II (1939-1945), Mosley was interned for his pro-German views. Later, he tried to revive fascism in the United Kingdom.
Mosley was born in London on Nov. 16, 1896. He was elected to Parliament as a Conservative in 1918. In 1926, Mosley was elected to Parliament as a member of the Labour Party. He resigned in 1930 and formed his own party. Mosley died in France on Dec. 3, 1980.
