Peak District is a hilly region in England at the southern end of a line of uplands known as the Pennines. The district lies mainly in the county of Derbyshire. Peak District National Park covers much of the region. The uplands of the High Peak include The Peak, 2,088 feet (636 meters) high, also known as Kinder Scout. To the north, and over the Snake Pass, rises Bleaklow Hill, 2,060 feet (628 meters) high. Near the Snake Pass are the Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs. Within the Peak District is the attractive area known as the Yorkshire Dales. The towns of Buxton and Matlock are tourist centers.
