Coneflower

Coneflower, also known as rudbeckia, is the name of about 25 species of yellow-flowered plants of North America. Some species reach a height of about 7 feet (2 meters). Many coneflowers are grown as ornamental plants for late-summer color in flower borders. Common cultivated types include the thimbleflower and black-eyed susan. Coneflowers grow best in well-drained soil in a sunny position. The dead flower heads should be removed to encourage new flowers to form. The plants should be cut down in late autumn.
