Sansevieria

Sansevieria is the name of 50 species of fleshy-leafed plants related to agaves. One species, known as mother-in-law’s tongue, is a popular house plant. It has spiky leaves, about 18 inches (45 centimeters) long, with golden yellow margins. Sansevierias grow in dry, tropical regions of Africa, Madagascar, and southern Asia. The leaves of some species provide fibers that are made into shoes, fishing nets, ropes, and sails.
