Sligo

Sligo (pop. 20,608) is the county town (administrative center) of County Sligo in western Ireland. It is the second largest town in the province of Connacht. Sligo lies on a plain by the River Garavogue, between Lough Gill (Lake Gill) and the sea. The town has an airport and a good harbor.

Sligo has a number of industries, including fishing, making dies and other tools, and meat processing. Other local products include clocks, clothing, and medical supplies. Important service industries in Sligo include education, health care, and retail and wholesale trade.
