Wyndham, John (1903-1969), was the pen name of John Beynon Harris, a British science-fiction writer. His novel The Day of the Triffids, published in 1951, was a new and arresting kind of science fiction—fantastic yet plausible, brilliantly inventive, and written with skill and seriousness. His other novels include The Kraken Wakes (1953), The Chrysalids (1955), The Midwich Cuckoos (1957), Trouble with Lichen (1960), and Chocky (1968).
Wyndham was born on July 10, 1903, in Birmingham, England. He died on March 11, 1969.
