Yellowwood is the name of 94 species of evergreen timber trees found mainly in the mountain forests of the Southern Hemisphere. Most species have yellowish or reddish-brown wood. They have narrow, flat leaves, and cones bearing one or two seeds. Many species of yellowwood are called pine in their country of origin. Examples include the yellow pine of Australia and the black pine and the white pine of New Zealand. Species from South Africa have distinctly yellow-colored wood.
