Douglas (pop. 20,368) is the capital of the Isle of Man in Britain. It is a popular holiday resort overlooking Douglas Bay on the east coast of the island. The beach has good sands and facilities for swimming. Places of interest include the Manx National Museum, which also houses the Isle of Man’s National Library, and Nobles Park, a camping site and recreation area. The town is the scene of two annual motorcycle race meetings: the Tourist Trophy, held in June, and the Manx Grand Prix, held in September.
