Ely is a city in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It stands on fenland on the west bank of the River Ouse, about 15 miles (24 kilometers) northeast of Cambridge. Ely is known for its remarkable cathedral, whose tall tower can be seen from far away. The cathedral has many styles of medieval architecture, ranging from Norman to Perpendicular.
