Pavlova

Pavlova is a meringue dessert topped with whipped cream. It resembles a tutu (ballet skirt) and was created in honor of the Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova. The origin of the dessert is disputed. In New Zealand, where it is claimed to be the country’s first and only contribution to international cuisine, it is said to have been invented by a woman during or shortly after Pavlova’s visit there in 1926. But an Australian chef, Herbert Sachse, claimed to have invented it in 1935.
