Pampas grass

Pampas grass is the name of about 20 species of grasses that form large clumps with tall silvery, flowering plumes. Most species come from South America. There are a few species in New Zealand. Pampas grass is grown in many countries as an ornamental plant. It requires well-drained, fertile soil in a sheltered, sunny position. In South America pampas grass is used like papyrus to make paper.
