Sea wasp, also called the box jellyfish, is a dangerous stinging jellyfish found in the waters of northern Australia and Oceania. It has a box-shaped body that reaches about 15 inches (38 centimeters) across. Unlike most jellyfish, the sea wasp may form images using four groups of eyes. The sea wasp has clusters of tentacles, with up to 15 tentacles in each cluster. The tentacles may reach about 10 feet (3 meters) in length. The tentacles contain billions of tiny capsules, many of which hold a poisoned barb. A human being who is stung by these barbs experiences extreme pain and may die in minutes. Certain other kinds of jellyfish are sometimes called sea wasps or box jellyfish.
