Koror, << KAW rawr >> (pop. 12,000), is the largest town in Palau, an island nation in the western Pacific Ocean. Koror lies on Koror Island.
Koror is the center of Palau’s tourist industry. The town has a number of hotels, resorts, restaurants, and nightclubs. The Belau National Museum in Koror houses artifacts from the history of Palau, which is also known as Belau. Many people in Koror work for the government. Other economic activities in the town include the storage and export of tuna and the production of copra, the dried meat of coconuts. Palau International Airport on nearby Babelthuap Island serves the city.
